<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">A faculty member in the Department of Entomology recounts growing up in the Midwest. She attended undergraduate college in Wellesley, Massachusetts and received her doctorate in 1954 from Cornell University. She came to Purdue in 1965 and was the first female professor in the Entomology Department. She and her husband John were co- collaborators and co- researchers on nematodes. She has received many awards through the years- National Science foundation fellow, Dean's 2001 Agriculture Team award for CystX tm Technology and Purdue Women Pioneer 2006. Professor Ferris shares her interaction with students as a teacher and in student organizations. She is the holder of several patents.</span></p>
