Name: Reightler, Kenneth S. Jr. (1951-)
Historical Note: Kenneth S. Reightler, Jr. graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1973 and from the United States Naval Test Pilot School at Patuxent River, Maryland in 1978. He served as a test pilot, project officer, and flight test instructor at the Test Pilot School and served on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and attended the Naval Postgraduate School before being selected by NASA in 1987 for the astronaut training program. In 1991, Reightler piloted STS-48, the first Space Shuttle mission in support of "Mission to Planet Earth" and in 1994 he was the pilot for STS-60, the first joint US/Russian Space Shuttle mission. He also served in a number of administrative and technical roles while at NASA. Upon retirement from the US Navy, Reightler served various managerial and administrative positions in Lockheed Martin's space operations initiatives.
