Name: Margerum, Dale M.

Historical Note: Dale M. Margerum received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1950 and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1955.  He was a research chemist at Ames Laboratory from 1952-1953.  Margerum joined the staff at Purdue University as an instructor, 1954-1957.  He moved up the ranks quickly; assistant professor, 1957-1961; associate professor, 1961-1965; professor, 1965- and now professor emeritus.  He was Head of Purdue’s Inorganic Chemistry Division, 1968-1973 and Head of the Department of Chemistry, 1978-1983.
