McDowell is a Purdue graduate. He talks about his time as Assistant Head of Freshman Engineering [now School of Engineering Education]. Some memories include counseling students, the annual Summer Day, Engineering 100 [course] and schedule deputy. He discusses his association with Dean Potter, Al Spaulding, and others. He also talks about service on university committee-grade appeals, University Senate, and Faculty Fellow program as well as the ODK Outstanding Advisor Award.
