Glenn Alfred Shook was born in Osgood, Indiana on July 16, 1882 to Alfred and Olive (Gould) Shook. He prepared in Moores Hill College, Indiana and was a member of Sigma Xi. He was an instructor of Physics at Purdue University from 1907-11; University of Illinois, 1911-1914; University of Michigan, 1914-1915; Williams College, 1915; and Professor of Physics and Math, Wheaton College, Norton, Massachusetts.
He married Nellie Switzer on November 15, 1911 in Lafayette, Indiana. They had one child, Elizabeth, born October 2, 1912.
