Professor Daehler was born in Chadwick, Illinois in 1883. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1908 and was an instructor there from 1910 until 1914. He became an assistant professor in 1914 and retained the rank until 1918 when he became an associate professor. Professor Daehler was a professor of English at Colorado College starting in 1919 and was associate professor of English until 1921 when he became a full professor. He was an exchange professor at Knox College during the first semester of 1938 and 1939.
There is no mention of Purdue University in his obituary.
