Four folders containing publications by William Hatt and his bibliographic information, and one folder contains a diploma, certificates, and memorabilia.

Biographical Note

William K. Hatt was Head of the Civil Engineering Department at Purdue University from 1906-1937. He was known as one of the prominent engineers of the Middle West. He was a consulting engineer for the great World War Memorial in Indianapolis, and was an authority and author in the field of testing materials. He was a director of the Advisory Board of Highway Research of the National Research Council, which brought about many radical changes and improvements in highway construction. "Doc" was widely informed outside the field of technical subjects. His hobby seemed to be the history of ancient peoples, and his lectures on Greek and Roman architecture were of the most interesting and informative nature.

Booklet - The Memorial Address by President Winthrop Ellsworth Stone of Purdue Univeristy November 11, 1903.  This memorial service was held after the Purdue train wreck of October 31, 1903.  Prof. W.K. Hatt is written accross the top of the booklet.

Certificate of Appreciation - War Department, United States of America, issued to Wm. K. Hatt of Lafayette, Indiana for Marked Service to the United States, by acting as a Member of the organization of the Committee on Education and Special Training, War Plans Division, General Staff, during the National Emergency of 1917-1918, and the full Appreciation of the Government herewith is expressed, signed by Newton D. Baker, Secretary of War.
