Scope and Contents of the Materials

One photograph and several photocopied articles pertaining to the life and career of Arthur Sego, Purdue alumnus (1917) and test pilot, who died in 1918.

Biographical Note

Arthur A. Sego was born to Mr. and Mrs. Meddie Sego, Sr. on August 7, 1894 in Kentland, Indiana. He was a 1917 graduate of Purdue University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Arthur Sego enlisted in Aviation Service, May 1, 1917, in Chicago. He trained at the Aviation Ground School, Cornell University, New York. He transferred to Camp Dick, Texas then to Ellington Field, Texas. Arthur Sego was rated as Reserve Military Aviator at Door Field, Florida. He was Commissioned Second Lieutenant, August 7, 1918. He was killed in an airplane accident September 12, 1918 at Love Field, Texas. He was buried with military honors in Kentland, Indiana. His name appears on the Wall of Honor in the Purdue Memorial Union.
