Scope and Contents: The College of Engineering/Civil/Joint Transportation Research Program collection (1920-2007; 2.5 cubic feet (2.5 c.f. boxes) and approximately 10 linear feet (1 large flat box and one OS photograph) documents the history of the Joint Highway Research Project, which was formed in 1937, and later became known as the Joint Transportation Research Program. The collection also contains items from the Purdue Civil Engineering Department, prior to 1937; numerous photographs, including 301 photographs and notations about the educational background of graduate students, circa 1920s-1960s, and photographs of early roadwork in the various Indiana counties, circa 1920s-1940s. Also included are annual reports, meeting minutes, video tapes and audio tapes of departmental activities, such as presentations. The oversized photographs have been separated and boxed for preservation purposes.
