Name: Thuot, Pierre J. (1955 -)
Historical Note: Pierre J. Thuot graduated from the US Naval Academy with a degree in physics and the University of Southern California with a masters of science in systems management. As a Naval pilot he served on the USS John F. Kennedy and USS Independence. He was selected to attend the US Naval Test Pilot School in 1982 and selected by NASA for astronaut training in 1985. Thuot was mission specialist on the crew of STS-36, a Department of Defense payload mission. He was mission specialist on STS-49, a mission to repair the Intelsat VI F3 communications satellite. Thuot's last mission, STS-62, focused on microgravity science and technology demonstrations with more than sixty experiments conducted. Thuot left NASA and returned to the Navy in 1995 where he has had teaching and administrative roles at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
