Albert N. Guthrie was born 8 November 1907 to Nicholas and Mabel (Lardin) Guthrie in Ottawa, Illinois. Guthrie graduated from Purdue University in 1929 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. While at Purdue he was part of the varsity football team, and a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Gimlet Club. He married Evelyn Weaver on 29 December 1934 in Lafayette, Indiana. Also in 1934, he was hired as plant engineer at Libby Owens Ford and later was named assistant plant manager, a position he held until his retirement at age 65.
Guthrie was a longtime member of the Ottawa Boat Club, Deer Park Fishing Club, and member of the Christ Episcopal Church. Mrs. Guthrie passed away in 1982. Albert N. Guthrie passed away on 25 February 1991.
