Historical Note: Alba Mark Tucker was born in West Hartford, Vermont on November 14, 1836 to Alvin and Abigail Tucker.  In 1855 he moved to Elkhart, Indiana for his job with Michigan Southern & Northern Indiana Railroad.  On August 1, 1862 Tucker enlisted with the 100th Indiana Regiment Volunteers.  His rank in was as Regimental Quartermaster, and he mustered out as First Lieutenant/Regimental Quartermaster on December 8, 1865 and returned to Elkhart.  In Elkhart, Tucker was president of the St. Joseph Valley Bank from April 5, 1876 to January 16, 1884; Mayor from May 1, 1878 to May 1, 1880; and Postmaster from March 7, 1883 to August 1, 1885.  After that he returned to rail road work.  Tucker married Sarah Henry and they had three daughters, Isabel, Jean, and Hallet.  Tucker passed away on February 8, 1900.
